Dr. Jon-Cecil (J.C.) Walkes
Dr. Jon-Cecil (JC) Walkes is board certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery and has been in practice since 2003. He has a long history of clinical excellence and previously served as an Associate Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center and the Director of the valve program at the Memorial Hermann Heart and Vascular Institute in the Texas Medical Center in Houston.
Dr. Walkes attended Stanford University and graduated with honors in Biology and Humanities. He then studied medicine at the University of California at Los Angeles, again graduating with honors and his doctorate degree. After completing General Surgery at Baylor, he moved into the Thoracic and Cardiovascular Residency at Baylor College of Medicine. While at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Walkes was a member of the Dr. Michael E. DeBakey Heart Team at Methodist Hospital in Houston.
Dr. Walkes performs all types of adult cardiothoracic surgery and is nationally known for minimally invasive heart valve surgery. He helps train other surgeons and their teams in the area of minimally invasive valve surgery. Dr. Walkes is extensively published in the areas of valve surgery, cardiac tumor surgery and cardiac trauma. Dr. Walkes has an acute interest in limb salvage and had performed thousands of limb salvage surgeries to help patients heal wounds in the lower extremities.
